Being part of the artist community has been a wonderful experience for me since my retirement from 30 years of a medical profession. In 2004 I started taking one art class at a time at the local community college, not knowing if this was for me. Because I haven’t explored any one medium long enough, I tend to dabble in many: pastel, oil, acrylic, collage, monotype, charcoal, watercolor, assemblage. You could say that I enjoy being a general practitioner of art rather than a specialist. I am inspired by the many artists in our community. They never fail to show me the endless ways and means to express an idea, emotion, thought, feeling, opinion, etc. They rattle my aging brain into new ways of sensing. Art to me is like being a kid again. Time to play.
This year I have focused on pastels. The images below are all dry pastels, framed and matted under glass.
